Stretch your legs in the comfort of morning temperatures while learning a little Jacksonville, Oregon history! Hear how gambling money built a church; how the Civil War ended a successful mercantile partnership; how a saloon housed the county’s first museum; how fire reshaped the town; and how a railroad both destroyed the town and preserved it. Join Historic Jacksonville, Inc. at 10am at Jacksonville’s New City Hall at 206 North 5th Street for a combination of exercise, education, and entertainment! The tour covers about 1 mile and lasts about 1 hour. The tour is FREE, but donations are always welcomed—all monies go towards maintaining and preserving historic buildings seen on the tour.

Visit Jacksonville’s 1870s Beekman House Museum, home to the town’s wealthiest and most prominent pioneer family, and catch a glimpse of how an upper-class Jacksonville family would have lived in the late 1800s. “Family Life” tours highlight 19th Century daily life, changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution, and Victorian architectural and design innovations, providing insights into an upper-class Jacksonville lifestyle during the town’s heyday. Costumed docents offer 30-minute tours between 12 noon and 3 p.m. The Beekman House Museum, completely furnished with Beekman family artifacts, is located at 470 E. California Street in Jacksonville. The $5 admission goes to the on-going maintenance of this historic landmark.

Step behind the counter of the 1863 Beekman Bank, the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest, preserved as a museum since 1915. Located at 110 W. California Street in Jacksonville, it saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters during Jacksonville’s heyday in the late 1800s—the equivalent of over $1 billion today. Interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices, gold shipping, and handshake deals. Step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks, stage schedules, and paperwork. Enter the vault that stored all those millions in gold! Admission is FREE but donations are encouraged with all monies going towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy!

1-hour walking tours share tales of ghosts and spirits from Jacksonville\'s pioneer past. 7 & 7:30 pm tours highlight brothels, epidemics, and hangings; 7:15 & 7:45 pm tours feature arson, saloons, and Oregon\'s oldest Chinatown. Both tours include haunted houses. $10/per person. Limited space; reservations required.

Docents and mannequins will be costumed in Victorian fashions from the Civil War Era to the early 1900s. 1-hour tours begin every 20 minutes between 12n and 3pm at the 1870s Beekman House Museum, 470 E. California, Jacksonville. and showcase appropriate Victorians fashions for social calls, travel, formal dinners, mourning, country outings, and more. $10 per person.
